The first real snow of winter came on December 7th. It did not amount to much, but coupled with the cold temperatures, it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Cambridge, NY.

My avocado plant did not look too happy with the change in temperature, but I could not resist snapping a shot of this tropical fruit with snow in the background.

I've been documenting the life just outside my back door. The ground is just covered with the snow and the birds are flitting around the apple tree and bird feeder. Now is the time to keep the suet feeder full. The suet not only attracts an amazing variety of winter birds, it also helps them fight the cold temperatures.
Happy backyard birding!
